The Choir
Many services take place in the Choir, joined to the Nave by the Central Tower. This tower rises high above the Crossing of the Cruciform Cathedral.
The Choir is separated from the Nave by a stone screen and the Cathedral organ. It is here that the Choir has sat and sung during services for over five hundred years.
At the far eastern end of the Cathedral is the Sanctuary which represents Heaven. This is the holiest and most important part of the Cathedral.
In the Sanctuary is the Altar where the priest gives Holy Communion to Christians, another symbol which unites all people together in God’s loving family.
