The Choirs
Listen
Ripon Cathedral Choir consists of 16 boy choristers, 22 girl choristers and 6 lay clerks. The choir sing eight services each week (except Wednesday) and eucharist and mattins on Sundays. The boys and girls normally sing separately with the lay clerks, but occasionally perform together for special events.
The boy choristers attend the Cathedral Choir School and rehearse each morning before undertaking the normal activities of a school day. The girl choristers were established in 1996, and attend various schools within the local area.
In addition to singing the daily services the choirs have undertaken many concerts within the Ripon and Leeds Diocese and beyond. Broadcasts and recordings are a regular feature with the choir having sung on BBC and independent radio and television.
