Gift Aid
Gift Aid is a Government scheme which enables
the Cathedral to reclaim the tax you have paid on any money you
give to the Cathedral.
You can use this easy and effective way
of giving to the Cathedral either by making a one-off gift or
regular payments.
If you choose to make a regular payment
you can make a gift annually, quarterly or monthly for an agreed
number of years, preferably by Standing Order.
The Cathedral can then reclaim the basic tax
which you have already paid. This means that a donation of £100
increases in value to £128 to the Cathedral.
If you are a higher
rate taxpayer you can also reclaim
the difference between the basic (22%) and higher (40%) rate
bands - so if you give £100, the Cathedral
receives £128 and you
can reclaim £23.
Using Gift Aid, a gift of £500 is
worth £641
to the Cathedral, with a higher rate tax payer reclaiming £115.
For small donations all that is necessary is
for you to complete a Gift Aid declaration at the time you make
your gift. If you are committing to regular payments, please ask
for a Gift Aid form which you need fill in only once to cover all
your declarations.
