The Girl Choristers

The Girl Choristers of Ripon Cathedral began rehearsals in 1996 and sang their first service in November of that year. Since then the Girl Choristers have been broadcast on BBC and independent radio and television several times, recorded CDs, sung concerts and special services before thousands of people, and undertaken tours of Scotland and Wales.

There are twenty two girl choristers ranging in age from 8 to 13 and recruited from a number of schools in and around Ripon. Rehearsals take place twice a week and the girls sing with the Lay Clerks at one or two services in the Cathedral every weekend during school term-time.
