Interpreting the woodwork of Ripon's medieval craftsmen

A study day in which we shall examine the inspiration, craftsmanship and symbolism of the internationally renowned work of the ‘Ripon School of Woodcarvers’. Based at Thorpe Prebend House, High Saint Agnesgate, Ripon (on the road immediately below the Cathedral).

Maurice Taylor, BA Cert Ed. MA, and Derek Ching, MA (Cantab) have researched the Ripon Cathedral woodcarvings and collaborated in writing the new guidebook.

Programme

from 9.45 am. Registration and tea/coffee
10.15 The Woodcarvings of Ripon Cathedral and their carvers - Maurice Taylor
11.30 Tea/Coffee and tour of the C16th timber-framed house and exhibition.
11.45 Interpreting the Woodcarvings—Revd Derek Ching
12.30 pm Lunch (bring your own or buy in town- hot drinks provided)
1.30 Tour of the Cathedral woodcarvings
2.45 approx Tea/coffee and departure

Cost: £15 includes teas/coffees during the day and donation for the Cathedral woodcarvings tour.
