Dear Friends

Celebrating the life of Ripon Cathedral

I write to you with invitations to two important events on the weekend when we celebrate our Patronal Festival, the Feast of St Wilfrid and also with a gift of our recently published Annual Review

Ripon Cathedral Annual Review 2020-2021

I am delighted to inform you that we have now published this year’s Annual Review covering September 2020 – August 2021.  This is a celebration of all that has been going on in and through the cathedral, including how we have been serving the communities and churches of the Diocese of Leeds and this region of Yorkshire.  You can find the Annual Review on the cathedral website via the link below:

Open Meeting in the Cathedral – Saturday 9th October 10-12 noon

I invite you to join us for an Open Meeting on 9th October 10-12 noon in the cathedral.  This will provide an opportunity to hear brief reports from myself, members of chapter and senior staff. As well as reflecting on what has been happening over the last twelve months, we will be sharing more about our plans for 2022 when we will be celebrating our 1350th anniversary, and latest news on the Ripon Cathedral Renewed development project.

The programme for the morning:

10.00am                            Refreshments in the south transept of the cathedral

10.30 -11.15am                 Brief presentations in the nave of the cathedral

11.15-11.50am                   Questions, answers and discussion

Then, for those who would like to stay, there will be the 12noon daily Eucharist at the High Altar.

Please, do enjoy the Annual Review and consider joining us on October 9th.

Annual Commemoration of Founders and Benefactors – Sunday 10th October 3.30pm

I also invite you to join us for our Annual Commemoration of Founders and Benefactors on Sunday 10th October at 3.30pm followed by refreshments.  I am delighted that our preacher this year is our Diocesan Bishop, The Bishop of Leeds, Bishop Nick.  Please can I encourage you to join us for this service which is rich in symbolism and historical highlights, including readings and prayers in Anglo Saxon to reflect something of the time of our founding by St Wilfrid.

To help in our preparation for refreshments, please would you respond to Judith Bustard

Email: or Tel: 01765 603462 by Friday 1st October.

With my very best wishes,

Dean John
