Coronavirus: Guidance for Holy Communion

Ripon Cathedral is following the guidance issued by the national Church, which is regularly updated to take account of the most recent government advice.

The dean and precentor have taken the decision to suspend the common cup (the chalice) at the administration of Holy Communion.

This decision has been taken to minimise the chance of infections being passed in the current climate.

As a result, when it comes to the administration of communion please move as directed by the select vestry but you will just be offered the bread. Please receive and return to your seat.

Receiving in one kind only does convey the full benefits of communion.

The shaking of hands at the Peace has also been suspended. We are all encouraged to greet one another with a warm greeting and eye contact.
