Wing and a Prayer Exhibition
See thousands of angels taking flight into the cathedral’s nave, each one representing a prayer left during the COVID pandemic. This exhibition will remain in Ripon Cathedral through to 2021.
We would like to say a special thank you to all our wonderful volunteers and donors who are helping to support Ripon Cathedral as we remember the amazing contributions from so many during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Wing and A Prayer 10,000 angels were designed during the COVID-19 lockdown to support the community through prayers. Since May, 10,000 origami angels were made by 100 volunteers in their homes and 300 school pupils to help create an inspiring host of angels in the nave of Ripon Cathedral each representing a dedication made during the COVID-19 pandemic to key workers and loved ones. Our volunteers ranged from the ages of 3 – 90 years old and were located across the region.
During the end of July, over 50 volunteers and staff members placed 10,000 angels onto the net before it was suspended 50 feet above the nave high above the ancient pillars of the cathedral.
The free exhibition is available to view during opening hours with prayer boards to view and a children’s angel activity to enjoy.
