Home and Yonder: Riponians in the World Wars
Hundreds of the men and women of Ripon fought in the two world wars and hundreds more would not come home. Explore some of their stories and sacrifice in the cathedral’s beautiful 14th century library with a range of stories, artefacts and exhibits on display.
The Remembrance exhibition includes reproductions of some of the uniforms worn during the world wars, as well as the Rev Canon Barry Pyke’s British Army Reservist uniform. Thank you to Ripon Museum Trust and local residents for the loan of some amazing artefacts.
Re-enactors wearing replica World War Two uniforms will be in the cathedral on October 29th, ready to answer your questions and show off artefacts from the period. There will also be an opportunity to meet Robin Taylor, the curator for the project, on the evening of November 3rd at 7.30pm.
Free to view during opening hours. Please note this exhibition is in the Cathedral Library & Treasury and does not offer step-free access.
