Congratulations to our 70 couples who celebrated 50 years or more of marriage today at our Golden Wedding Service.

Couples travelled hundreds of miles to join in this service of thanksgiving – which was sung by the girl choristers and lay clerks of Ripon Cathedral Choir.

They stood to re-affirm their vows in front of guests from as far afield as the US. Twenty of the couples celebrate their diamond wedding this year!

Her Majesty the Queen sent a personal message of congratulations to the couples and was represented by Mr Richard Compton, Deputy Lieutenant of North Yorkshire.

Eric and Jean from Northallerton took this bouquet to the altar on behalf of the congregation – the couple were married 60 years ago to the day!

Congratulations to them and to the 69 other couples who re-affirmed their vows in our unique service of thanksgiving.
