We are delighted to welcome our new Director of Music, Dr Ronny Krippner, who has just conducted his first weekend of services with us!

Ronny says, “I am delighted to have started in Ripon – I have already received a very warm welcome from the cathedral community during my first week in post.

“Ripon is of course very different to Croydon (where I have worked at the Minster and Whitgift School for nearly nine years), and my family and I very much look forward to getting to know the local area which is stunningly beautiful!

“The Music Department of Ripon Cathedral has an outstanding reputation and, together with the majestic cathedral, the fantastic Harrison & Harrison organ and the wonderful team of organists and singers, I knew instantly that this place is something very special.

“The new job has lots of new opportunities, not least thinking creatively about the musical training we offer, but also sharing the unique opportunities of cathedral music with new recruits – we are always on the look out for new choristers to join the choir.

“We are also exploring exciting new repertoire, going on tour, recording new CDs and getting Ripon Cathedral Choir to sing on radio and TV and I can only say: watch this space!”

Dean John says, “We at Ripon Cathedral are delighted to welcome Dr Ronny Krippner as our Director of Music.

“In a year when we are celebrating Ripon Cathedral’s 1,350th anniversary, we remember that music has been an essential part of this Christian community’s life since Anglo-Saxon times. We remain committed to developing our choirs and music department and sharing this great inheritance with every generation in this region today.

“Ronny brings with him experience, gifts and energy that make him the ideal person to lead our music forward into its next chapter.”
